If I could have been any mutant of my choice on the night of 3DEEP, I would have been that guy on X-Men: The Last Stand, who robbed seven banks all at the same time… that way, I could have been at all three venues at once!
Two months ago (on Friday, July 24th to be exact) my husband and I hit the Downtown scene to check out 'The Opening' at The Loft. Local bands competed for the opening slot for Modest Mouse on September 9th at Pipeline Cafe. Some of the bands featured were: Our Distance, Girlfriends, Painted Highways and Clones of the Queen. Unfortunately, I didn't make it in time to see all of the bands. I caught the tail end of Girlfriends' set... they ended up being the winners of The Opening battle... too bad I didn't get to see their whole set. The only band I saw from beginning to end was Painted Highways, and I gotta say... I enjoyed them very much! Hope to see more of them around. The other day, Michael of Painted Highways came across my "Tuning Everything Out" photo in my flickr photostream... he said it took him a minute to realize that it was his arm in the picture... wanking with his pedals at The Loft that night. I had taken a bunch of photos of them that night, but hadn't uploaded them yet. I promised him I'd upload them to flickr... and as of today, the pictures are up as promised. Check them out here!

It's Friday, today is payday, and Monday is a Holiday! I'm lovin' it! It's also First Friday... AND... my friend Nora is visiting from Japan, so I may try to make it out tonight... we'll see though because I have two art projects due next week and I gotta get up somewhat early tomorrow to get to the UH Manoa Bookstore before they close at 11:30 a.m. I have to pick up a few art supplies and I decided to purchase Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium with my student discount, even though I'm sure they will come out with Creative Suite 5 in about 6 months or so... but whatever... it's virtually impossible to keep up, unless you are filthy rich, which I am not. Anyway, maybe I'll see you out in the streets of downtown tonight...
Have a great long weekend!

2D Featuring the art of Dalek at Soho last night was an awesome turn out… amazing art, great music, tons of people and not to mention, lots of booze… it was such a fun night to be out! I’m still recovering from last night, so rather than rambling utter nonsense, here are a few random pictures of the night:

We decided to catch a cab and walk a short distance through Downtown to Soho.
We passed by the alley leading to Mercury Bar and they had all kinds of fun stuff going on.
All kinds of people were out on the prowl...
Soho already bumpin' at 8:30 p.m.
People mingling while checking out Dalek's art...
Dalek's prints + Board Shorts + Contrast Magazine
Kristen and friend
Meeting new people from different parts of the world was fun...
It's starting to get crowded in here...
Sneaking a candid shot here...

I don't know what everyone was talking about... Dalek's not THAT tall...

It's getting hot in here...
Sarah & Jennifer wait patiently in line to get in....
I really wanted to give this guy some money... too bad I didn't have any to give...
Don't even think about jay walking...
Hotel St. mayhem...
Wonder what they were talking about...
This crowd refused to die down...
By this time, we were ready to call it a night as others were just getting started...
