Love these looks in Alternative's Spring 2010 Lookbook!
Le Coeur du Spring
Incorporating bright pops of color in violet and cobalt, retro-style prints and mixed media pieces, the spring 2010 collection was inspired by the romance and vibrant allure of 1960s French pop culture. From music, art and cinema to the unforgettable cultural icons themselves—Brigitte Bardot, Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin—the 60s French pop scene was abundantly rich in style and creativity. Shot in L.A.’s Laurel Canyon in a mid-century architectural home with a Danish modern interior design influence, the spring 2010 campaign captures the casual luxury and effortless, unequivocal coolness of a bygone era.

I've never owned anything from theory, but I came across these looks on their website, and I must say, I'm digging the jackets and pants. I may just have to check out their store in Ala Moana someday...
EDIT: I was just informed that the theory boutique in Ala Moana closed... I'm not sure when that happened... goes to show you how out of the loop I am these days. Suppose I will have to check out Neiman Marcus instead.

When I got the word that Contrast’s fashion shoot for the upcoming issue had been scheduled on a Monday, I quickly turned in my vacation papers and thought nothing of it… there was no way I was going to miss this shoot, and I can honestly say that I’m so glad I didn’t. The concept of this fashion spread... "The Morning After"... is based on the idea of girls wearing nothing but guys tee shirts. Why are these girls only in guys tee shirts, you ask? Well… that’s where your imagination comes into play… the full truth may never be revealed, but I’m sure you’ll be able to cook up a great story in your head as to what events may have led up to "The Morning After". Brooke Dombroski (amazing photographer, graphic designer, artist… just all around amazing girl) rallied up her peeps to make this shoot not only possible, but ultimately a complete success. She managed to get a full team involved with this shoot, which consisted of four shmokin’ hot models, an awesome and truly talented hair & make up artist, and several friends & strangers even, who graciously provided their homes/apartments for locations. From a gorgeous Chinatown high rise, to the sketchy back roads of Kalihi which led to a Nacho Libre-like bachelor pad disguised as some kind of underground nail spa, then following the sounds of music to an empty but cozy Pauoa home, and finally ending by switching up the scenery with the beautiful ocean backdrop at Rock Piles, as onlookers and potential pervs watched… the day was long, yet it went by so fast. I tell you, these fashion shoots keep getting better and better each time! Enjoy these “behind the scenes” polaroids.

... guys, you DON'T want to miss this next fashion spread... you'd be a barney if you did.
Today was a LONG day. I took a vacation day from work so I could be available for Contrast's fashion shoot for the upcoming issue. We were so fortunate & especially grateful to have such a great team for this shoot; Brooke Dombroski photographed, Lena Hanson did hair and make up, and four BEAUTIFUL models did their thang & WORKED IT! Can't wait to see the pics! Here's a polaroid I took of the city view from one of the locations we shot at. I'll post some teasers later, stay tuned.

Weekend Update:
My husband got me the In4mation Salmon Casio G-Shock this weekend! So stoked!
Today was a super long day of shopping. I was on a mission to find work clothes cause I'm so tired of wearing the same old stuff to work all the time... it makes me feel sloppy and I don't like it. I had been obsessing about getting new work clothes for some time now, but wasn't really sure where to begin looking. Ideally, I would have liked to shop at Zara or H&M for work clothes, however, that was not an option since I am no longer living in LA and am confined to this rock instead. So, I began my mission at Club Monaco... and let me tell you, I went nutz in there.. I'm talking no holding back nutz! I lucked out because they had a good sale going on, and everything I got was marked down! I got a bunch of stuff for cheap! After Club Monaco, we walked around a bit and stopped by Neiman Marcus, where they were also having a sale, and I got pair of shorts and a top on sale too. We started to head back to our car, and I decided to stop into Ann Taylor on a whim. Now keep in mind, I don't recall ever stepping foot in that store before... but I was surprised to find some pretty cute basic & classic pieces in there... also on sale! Never in a million years would I have thought I'd find something at Ann Taylor... haha... but they had a great sale and it really helps that they carry petite sizes for me. After that, we left the mall, and I wanted to stop at Nordstrom Rack on the way home to look for shoes. Not only did I find some really cute shoes for work, but I also found these really sick pair of green Nikes! I couldn't pass these up, there were just too cool. They remind me of a cross breed of sneakers & moon boots... hahaha... funky stuff.... I love it. Overall, it was a good day today and I'm glad I accomplished what I set out to do. For once, I'm looking forward to dressing up and going to work...
Hope you all had a great weekend! Looking forward to the short work week coming up... yay!
While browsing The Sartorialist's Blog... I came across this photo he took of a man on the streets of Florence... I predict this is what Dean will look like in another 30+ years... still rocking da shorts, showing off his remarkably hairless man legs...

... my life would be complete if these three stores opened in Honolulu... I can dream, can't I?
You always want what you can't have...
I am really feeling Karen Walker's Spring 2009 looks. Lately, I have been very much into the androgynous look for some reason... don't know why, perhaps it's the tomboy in me coming out. It reminds me of the classic and ever-so-lovely Katharine Hepburn... Gotta Love her!
